Then the king commanded Hilkiah. . .saying, “Go, inquire of the LORD for me . . .for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book.” (2 Chronicles 34:21)
The priest Hilkiah found the lost Book of the Law amidst the rubbish in the temple. Ironically, the Hebrew priests were so busy at the temple in their empty rituals that they lost the Word of God. You can indeed lose the Word of God in the house of God. Churchianity can keep you so busy doing church things that you have no time for the Word. Never, ever let anything replace the Word of God in your life, even good activities at church.
In Living in the In-Between Times, Pastor Ralph Douglas West brings the story of the Old Testament prophet Samuel to life, showing you how God speaks in your “in betweens” and what it looks like to live faithfully in these seasons of waiting and wondering.
