Enough Is Enough

today's reading.
Judges 10:1-18    After Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he lived at Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim...
Judges 10

think about it.
What do you learn about the next two judges (10:1-5)? What brought Israel down again (10:6-7)? Who are the new enemies Israel must face (10:7-9)? How did God answer the cries of His people this time (10:10-15)? What changed in Israel's response? What does true repentance look like in your life?

the blog.
Well once again we see the Israelites doing their own thing, getting into trouble and then crying out to God to save them. Only this time, God doesn't comply. He reminds them of all the times He's rescued them and then says "I will save you no more. Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress" (vs. 13-14).

The Israelites didn't really want to live for God. They wanted to live for themselves. They viewed and treated God as a "problem fixer" instead of the Ruler and Authority of their lives.

So how do we guard against a vending machine mentality in our relationship with the Lord? What are some things we can do to get us back on the right path if we find that we're already there? Tami W.
