Disagreements, conflict and tension are bound to happen when people come together with other people. It's just part of relationships. But while conflict is part of life (and is necessary and good in certain circumstances) our relationships shouldn't be dominated by strife (discord, fighting, friction, rivalry, etc.). Our relationships, and in turn our lives, will be at their best when we're striving for unity with a mindset of love and kindness toward others.
"Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife." (Proverbs 17:1)
"The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out." (Proverbs 17:14)
How prone to strife are your relationships (work, home, school or extended family)? When conflict takes an unhealthy turn (damaging rather than necessary), how do you respond?
