We Are Christ’s

…For all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s. - 1 Corinthians 3:21-23

In this chapter, Paul left the Corinthian believers on a good note. They are were to be comforted because they were in Christ, and He is in God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the cross. Without the cross there would be no preaching, and we would be hopeless (1 Corinthians 15:14-19).

God can give a person such a passion to preach and share the Gospel it becomes a fire burning within them which cannot be quenched. This passion can only come through the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter preached the cross with boldness and authority when giving a defense for a man that was healed in Jesus’ name. The Holy Spirit empowered him:

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole” (Acts 4:8-10).

If every person in our three Sunday services would be on fire for the Lord and share the message of the cross, do you think our church would be just standard? No way! On Sunday and Wednesday nights there would be three thousand people; every night the church would jam-packed. Why? People would be zealous; they would have the fire of God in their hearts.

They would desire to be in church to learn the Word of God, and then they would go out into their communities to win people for Christ.

We are Christ’s; it is by the grace of God we are saved. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we, too, can share the message of the cross with others.

You do not understand Christ until you understand his cross.
