Opinions Do Not Matter

John 20:31

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

What you believe makes a difference across the breadth of your life. The scientific community has established that smoking will harm your health, yet people still choose to smoke. Why? They don’t believe the warnings apply to them. What you believe makes a difference. That’s true in all kinds of places, and it’s true spiritually. We live in an age of skepticism. It’s far more fashionable to be a critic and a skeptic than to be a believer. But the best things of God come to those who choose to believe in Him. It’s not about my opinion or your opinion. Our opportunity is to take God’s Word and let it begin to define the boundaries of who we are. It’s the greatest way I know to live. Choose to believe. Choose to put your faith in the Living God.

Our Heavenly Father, I pray that by Your Spirit You will ignite something within me today, something that will give me the courage to believe, to lay aside skepticism and the reasons for withholding myself from Your purposes. I need Your help. I’ve been disappointed, discouraged, and betrayed. Holy Spirit, help me to overcome unbelief, to put my hope, trust, and faith in a Living God as never before. Thank You for what You’ll do on my behalf. I trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
