Resistance Plan - Today with Allen Jackson - October 26, 2017

  • 2017 Oct 26

1 Peter 5:8

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

I’m afraid that many of us who think of ourselves as “religious” have a hard time believing in the existence of Satan and demonic influences. Jesus had firsthand experience with the devil. At a time of great vulnerability in His life, Satan appeared to tempt Him where he thought Jesus might be weakest. And if Satan had the audacity to do that to the Son of God, I can guarantee that he will exploit our weakest spots at the times when we are the most vulnerable. Given that reality—that Satan is prowling about with the objective of devouring us—we need to be prepared for it with an intentional, well-crafted plan that we can articulate. We all have our weak spots, and you know which is yours—finances, truthfulness, sexuality, gambling, anger, food, etc. Just as you lock your house when you leave and have insurance on your car, it’s prudent to devise and implement a plan to resist the temptations that will surely come. But we are not alone in fighting temptation—the Holy Spirit is with us to remind us of the things of God and give us the power to resist everything else.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the power in Your name. I take a stand against every scheme of the devil. I renounce it and cancel every plan with the authority of Jesus’ name. I resist the devil and submit to God. In Jesus name, amen.
