Ellen DeGeneres Tells Pastor She Does Not Have a 'Gay Agenda'

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres responded to a pastor’s claims that she “celebrates her lesbianism and ‘marriage’” to a woman on Wednesday’s episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Pastor Larry Tomczak wrote an article published on The Christian Post that said Ellen’s show was among many that promoted homosexuality.

In a monologue, DeGeneres said, "My only agenda, Larry, the only way I'm trying to influence people, is to be more kind and compassionate with one another. That is the message I'm sending out. I don't have an agenda, I'm not here to brainwash anyone."

"I don't even know what it means to celebrate my lesbianism. I mean—well, I guess I do, it's like that!" she said, and proceeded to pull a party popper out of her pocket and pop it. "I'm gay!"

After DeGeneres’ remarks, the conservative pastor penned an open letter to the talk show host, saying that he intended to “approach you not as an angry, mean-spirited ‘fundamentalist’ but rather in a spirit of humility as a would-be friend.”

Tomczak said that he shared DeGeneres goal of influencing others “to be more kind and compassionate with one another” and said it was time to “lower our voices and approach one another with respect and civility though we have our differences.” Tomczak went on to explain his biblically-based position on homosexuality in detail.

The letter in its entirety can be read at The Christian Post
