Franklin Graham Defends Trump’s Ban of Refugees

The Rev. Franklin Graham has come to President Trump’s defense after it was announced that Trump will be signing executive orders this week, banning refugees from the Middle East. reports that, though many Christian leaders condemend the ban, Graham stated that it is necessary for the security of the U.S. and that "It's not a biblical command for the country to let everyone in who wants to come, that's not a Bible issue.”

The executive order would reportedly enact a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. Notably, five of these countries made the top 10 in Open Doors World Watch List for countries where Christians persecution is most severe. Libya was number 11.

Christians and other religious minorities will reportedly be excepted from the ban.

Graham, who runs Samaritan’s Purse, a humanitarian organization, said that it is important to love people and help people, but that we also must protect people in the U.S.

"We want to love people, we want to be kind to people, we want to be considerate, but we have a country and a country should have order and there are laws that relate to immigration and I think we should follow those laws. Because of the dangers we see today in this world, we need to be very careful."

"We live in a very dangerous world and I think the president's first priority is to protect the American people and until there is a better system in place for vetting and knowing who comes into America, I believe every person who comes unto the US should be vetted," Graham continued. "We need to know who they are and what they believe, if they share the same core values of freedom and liberty."
