Tim Tebow Opens Up about Philippines Mission Trip: ‘There are So Many People Who Need Our Help’

Former quarterback and outspoken Christian Tim Tebow recently went on a mission trip to the Philippines where he shared the love of Christ with many.

According to ChristianToday.com, Tebow was born in the Philippines, and the country and its people have a special place in his heart.

"I love the Filipino people – they're some of the friendliest, warmest, nicest people in the world. And, to be able to come back here and care for them and love them, well it's truly a dream come true," Tebow told PEOPLE.

On his recent trip to the Philippines, Tebow visited an orphanage, schools, and a prison. He ministered to people and shared the love of Christ.

Tebow also visited the Tebow CURE Hospital which his foundation opened in 2014. The hospital specializes in caring for children with serious medical conditions.

The hospital has reportedly already treated 3,300 patients.

There is also a room at the hospital called Timmy’s Playroom where seriously ill children are nursed back to health.

"[K]ids are being carried in and they're walking out," shared Tebow. "They're coming in with their heads down and walking out with their heads held high."

Although his foundation and other ministries are doing work in the Philippines, Tebow acknowledged that there is still a lot of work to be done:

"We're just getting started because there is so much to do, and there are so many people who need our help," he said. "We want to continue giving people hope, giving them love they've never had their entire life and introducing them to a God who loves them and has a plan for their life. I just think that when you're in a place like the Philippines, you realize it and it hits you just how important this is."
