Zales New Commercial Features Lesbian Couple

Popular jewelry store Zales is making waves with its new commercial which features a lesbian couple on their wedding day.

The Christian Examiner reports that the commercial drew the attention of the family-oriented group One Million Moms which says that with the ad, Zales has “crossed a line” by attempting to “normalize sin.”

One Million Moms is a subgroup of the American Family Association and describes its mission as follows: “to give moms an impact with the decision-makers and let them know we are upset with the messages they are sending our children and the values (or lack of them) they are pushing.”

The Zales ad, which is called “We Believe” shows various couples, including the lesbian couple.

"At Zales," the narrator in the ad says, "we believe the world needs more love that lasts, love that grows, love that's worth waiting for, love that answers the kind of questions your smartphone cannot."

Monica Cole, director of One Million Moms said that it’s “not a retailer’s job” to take sides on controversial social issues.

"Zales is using public airwaves to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and belittle the sanctity of marriage in an attempt to redefine marriage," wrote Cole. "An even greater concern is that the commercial is airing when children are likely watching television. To make matters worse, this ad has aired during family viewing time such as football games and primetime shows."

Cole urged families to contact Zales and voice their disapproval of the ad.
