Pastor Embarks on 200-Mile Journey to Raise Money for Homelessness

A pastor in Michigan is currently on a 200-mile walk to raise money for homeless people in his community. Rev. Dave Pennell has committed to walking from the Mackinac Bridge to the Abundance Life Mission in Menominee, a 200-mile journey that he hopes will raise $100,000 for the homeless.

Christian Today report Pennell is making the journey while carrying a 30 pound wooden cross. He plans to finish the walk by May 9.

Pennell told a local TV station, "We all have a cross to bear. The Bible tells us that and my cross is for the homeless and the addicted.”

Pennell’s church currently houses homeless people, but can only accommodate 24 people. The money that the pastor raises will be used to renovate a building in Menominee to shelter more of the homeless population.

According to a GoFundMe page dedicated to Pennell’s project, the pastor has raised nearly $12,000 so far.
