Mark Driscoll Reportedly Preparing to Launch New Church

According to reports, former Mars Hill Church pastor Mark Driscoll is preparing to start a new church in Phoenix, Arizona.

Christian Today reports that blogger Warren Throckmorton has been reporting on Driscoll since Driscoll resigned from Mars Hill in October of 2014 amidst controversy and accusations of a bullying church culture, plagiarism, and allegations that donations were misappropriated.

According to Throckmorton, Driscoll is listed as a director of The Trinity Church in Phoenix. Throckmorton also posted the articles of incorporation for The Trinity Church on his blog.

Driscoll has not given an official statement as to his intentions, but said ministry "remains a calling and desire, but my plan is not to rush into anything. Instead, caring for each member of our family, seeking the wise counsel of pastors we are walking with, and building local relationships with Christian leaders to help build churches locally and globally is our focus. Beyond that, we will see how the Lord leads."

Driscoll is likely being cautious as his resignation from Mars Hill was riddled with controversy, and he was also accused of re-entering ministry too soon after Mars Hill closed.

Throckmorton reported that Driscoll planned to start a new church plant, but that his plans were still “at an exploratory stage.”
