A Christian ministry has started a 100-hour event of prayer and worship near the city of Mosul in Iraq, even as the battle for that city still rages.
According to ChristianToday.com, Seun and Kate Feucht lead the organization Burn 24-7, a ministry that seeks to hold hours-long prayer and worship services around the world, as well as to help communities in need by providing both spiritual and physical aid.
"We try and have them consistently hosted in a city once a month, and the heart is to gather Christians of different backgrounds and different denominations, to come together and take the time to worship and exalt God in their city,” states Kelsie, a worker with Burn 24-7.
Those ministering in the area of Iraq, Syria, and the Middle East hear so many heart-rending stories of families that were torn apart by ISIS and the fighting that has plagued the region.
And yet, through the devastation, they have also seen hope.
Kelsie shares a touching story of how a little girl approached her while she was playing her guitar. The little girl had her own small, broken guitar which she started using to play along with Kelsie.
“She began singing the name of her city in Sinjar,” shares Kelsie, “and it was just one of those powerful moments. I don’t know how to describe it, but people started listening as this little girl was singing the name of her city. God spoke to me in that moment about the power of singing over a region. It was a beautiful moment.”
In a YouTube video, Seun Feucht shared how doors have been opened for the gospel to be spread in the Middle East like no other time in history. Many people have been driven from their remote villages and are gathered in refugee camps. Many of them are receptive to the hope offered by the gospel.
