Actress Roma Downey and her producer husband Mark Burnett are getting ready to launch their new faith and family-based TV network.
According to CBN News, the couple said there is a high demand for wholesome, family-friendly and faith-based entertainment and that Christian audiences often feel like there is a lack of programs they want to watch on TV.
The new network is called “Light TV” and will launch next month. It will be broadcasted on more than a dozen major broadcast networks, including networks in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
"This is the beginning of our new, multi-platform faith and family network, where the demand is greater than ever for family-friendly entertainment," Downey told Variety Magazine.
Downey and Burnett have already been involved in producing faith-based entertainment, including “The Bible” series and the film “Son of God.”
"As we have already seen from the success of 'The Bible' series and our 20 million social followers, this audience is looking for inspiring and uplifting programming that they can watch in a trusted and safe environment on any platform,” said Downey.
The new network will broadcast 24-hours a day and will feature wholesome films such as “Rocky,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “The Nutcracker,” and “Hoosiers.”
