A Christian women’s group for mothers is boycotting Whole Foods after the retailer announced it supported Drag Queen Story Hour.

According to CBN News, the group, “One Million Moms,” has launched a petition asking Whole Foods to stop sponsoring the story hour, which features men dressed as women reading LGBTQ-themed books to children.

The One Million Moms petition has more than 8,200 signatures.

The call for the boycott came after the city of Atlanta LGBTQ Affairs tweeted that Whole Foods was the latest sponsor of the Drag Queen Story Hour. The story hour is also sponsored by the NBA team Atlanta Hawks and the NFL team Atlanta Falcons.

“Thank you for your commitment to a welcoming, diverse and inclusive Atlanta,” the tweet said.

The most recent Drag Queen Story Hour featured Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Miss Terra Cotta Sugarbaker.

The story hour books were “It’s Okay to be Different” and “Mary Had a Little Glam.”

“It’s important to share positive messages of acceptance and confidence in our communities,” Paulina Guzman with the city of Atlanta said in a tweet.

The community of One Million Moms, however, says the story hour allows children to be “groomed” by drag queens.

"I will not shop at Whole Foods Market as long as your company is supporting Drag Queen Story Hour," the petition says. "A retailer that once promoted organics and clean food is now saturated in absolute filth, exploiting America's children to be 'groomed' by drag queens."

Twitter users responded to the event as well. Said one mother: "I no longer live in Atlanta but I will boycott the whole food stores in Michigan were I live that is how much I hate what they are doing against children they are seeing how much we will put up with if we put up with this we are finished and God help us all."

Drag Queen Story Hour events take place all over the country and the event hopes to “capture the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models,” the story hour site says.
