Saeed Abedini 'Shaken' by Execution of Fellow Prisoners

Imprisoned pastor Saeed Abedini was reportedly unnerved this week when six of his fellow prisoners were executed. Christian Today reports that Abedini, who has been imprisoned in Iran over two years for his Christian faith, had to watch the six prisoners get brutally beaten and then taken to be killed.

Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh Abedini wrote on her Facebook page that the execution occurred the same day the pastor’s father was permitted to visit him in jail.

"Saeed was quite shaken as he had to witness six fellow prisoners being beaten and taken to be executed (hanged) that day,” Naghmeh Abedini wrote.

"It was a hard and dark day having witnessed that and seeing life being taken. The prison visit was also very hard as the families of those who were executed were crying and wailing.”

The post concluded, "Thank you all for praying. Please continue to pray for Saeed to have the strength to endure in that harsh prison and that Jesus would continue to meet him there and give him hope. Please pray that this will be the year that Saeed is released."

Previously, Naghmeh Abedini was permitted an audience with President Obama in which he said that securing Saeed Abedini’s release from jail was a high priority. Obama told Abedini’s son Jacob that he would try to get his father home by the child’s birthday which is March 17.
