Students around the World Gather for 25th Annual ‘See You at the Pole’ Prayer Event

Students across world are gathering at their school’s flagpole for the 25th annual “See You at the Pole” prayer event.

The event is a simple time of prayer for countries, families, teachers, and schools. The prayer rallies are led by students who gather at flagpoles for a time of prayer before the school day begins.

The “See You at the Pole” website describes the event this way: “For over 25 years, See You at the Pole has been about one simple act—prayer. SYATP is still about students uniting themselves in prayer before God interceding for their generation.”

CBN News reports that students from Chandler, Texas to the Philippines to Virginia Beach, Virginia took part in the prayer event this year.

“See You at the Pole” began in 1999 and had a humble beginning with a group of students in Texas simply meeting to pray. But the prayer rallies caught on fast and are going strong today.

The Christian Post reports that one million students will participate in the event this year. This year’s theme is “Fix Our Eyes,” which is taken from Hebrews 12:2 which encourages Christians in  “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

"Only as we 'Fix Our Eyes' on Jesus will we find peace and have the opportunity to be a part of the solution instead of the problems in our country and world,” elaborated National Network of Youth Ministries field director Doug Clark.
