The Gerasene Demoniac
by Berni Dymet

Mark 5:19 But Jesus refused, and said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy he has shown you."

There was a time when Jesus came across a man possessed by a legion of demons.  He was absolutely mad living naked in a cemetery.

You can read about him in the Bible - Mark Chapter 5.

Jesus steps out of His boat this day and casts the demons out of the man and into a herd of pigs that all promptly go and jump off a cliff.  But the man's healed.  Now you'd think the local community would be amazed.  But instead, they tell Jesus in no uncertain terms to leave.  Interesting, how quick they were to reject the Son of God over a few pigs.

The man on the other hand, wants to go and join Jesus in the boat.  Interesting, how quick he was, to follow after Jesus.

But instead, Jesus sends him back to become part of his community again.  Interesting, that Jesus would send him back to the very people who rejected the Son of God that day, back with a mission to tell them about God's mercy and God's grace.
