Looking Back
by Berni Dymet

Matt. 1:21 She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

Father God - you know something, as I look back on my life, I know there have been some great times.  Some really good times.

But in my heart of hearts, I just know that I've been running around trying to fill myself up - trying to - you know - buy this and do that and achieve this and go there and……and somehow in the middle of all that, I know that….I know that I've left you behind.

I just feel like I've wandered off...

And I just got to thinking about Jesus.  I thought about how He was nailed to that Cross.  I was thinking - like, how incredibly painful that must have been.  I can't imagine.

They tell me Jesus - that you died for me.  And the more I think about that - wow, everything else just kind of, well, all those things just seem so small, so petty, so irrelevant.

Jesus I'm not sure I really even understand why you had to die.  But deep inside I know you did.  I just know you did.

Thank you.
