Jesus' Friends
by Berni Dymet

John 15:14-15 You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.

Maybe recently you've heard me rabbiting on about the fact that the evidence of how much we believe in Jesus is in what we do - how we live our lives.

And you know - the uncomfortable bit about that, is that all of a sudden we think, ‘O man, I'm obliged to do all these things that I don't want to do, just to appease God'.

Okay, some things God calls us to are going to be hard.

But Jesus said to His disciples - you're my friends if you do what I command you - not servants, but friends because I've told you what my Father's up to.

And that's the key.

So when we ask Him - He kind of fills us in on His plans and His purposes - just like a friend would - and He leads us into things that might seem difficult at first and they might have their tough patches - but you know something - when we're in that place, there's a blessed rest, a holy ease - a peace.
