The Present
by Berni Dymet

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly...

I used to live my life always hoping for the next thing.  Today was never good enough.  I was always wanting the next promotion.  Or the next salary increase.  Or the next TV set.  Or the next new car.

Always…..the next.  Never…..the present.

Then I met Jesus.  Please don't switch off.  I don't mean to be corny. It was a profound thing for me.

And I heard Him say this - I came that you might live life in all its fullness, in all its abundance.

That got me thinking.  You can't do that, if you don't enjoy the present.  Here and now.  This minute.  This day.  No matter what the world tries to throw at us.

You know why they call the present the present? Because it's a gift from God.  Every breath we take.  Every step.  Every taste and smell and experience.

They're part of the rich fabric that He weaves for us.  Abundant.  Full.  Life.

And in the middle of it all - we can just pause and be still.  And know that He's God.
