Negative Thoughts

Berni Dymet

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Now I'm a pretty positive sort of guy. It's my nature. But I read a book "The Power of Positive Thinking" recently - and it was like a mirror held up to my face. And as positive a guy as I thought I was, I was absolutely gobsmacked at the number of negative thoughts I have every day.

"This is never going to work. He's never going to get it." On and on it goes. You know what I'm talking about. And by entertaining those negative thoughts, by wallowing in them, I was closing off the opportunity for God to use who He'd made me to be, to do the things He'd made me to do.

See, I believed my circumstances were above God. So here's the thing. I kicked off a new habit. Each time I have a negative thought, I replace it with a verse of Scripture. "I can do all things in Christ Jesus who strengthens me." And other verses too.

I know it kind of seems simplistic but you know something, it works.
