We Walk By Faith

October 31, 2013

To walk by faith is exciting, but, it can also be an uncomfortable experience. It is always a matter of trusting God completely.

Romans 10:17 “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

I can remember the first time I really stepped out in faith, wholeheartedly. I was an engineer for the railroad in Mississippi, where I was born and raised.  I loved it, and planned on making that my career, until, God began to warm my heart to ministry. There came a day for me, after many hours of prayer, and many days of considering God’s will for my life, that I made the decision, to turn in my two weeks notice, to leave for Memphis, TN, to go to seminary. The last day I worked, my constant prayer was, “Lord stop me if this is not your will.” Praise God, I’m still alive and I have not missed a meal!

If I had not listened to God, and simply trusted Him, I would have missed a boxcar load of blessings and a wonderful life of walking by faith.

The second time I made a major step of faith, was when I resigned from being one of the associate pastors with Dr. Adrian Rogers, and Bellevue Baptist Church, to start Abiding Above Ministries. Yes, it was unnerving, and in some ways it did not make sense to me.  But, it was unmistakable, that God was leading me. I can look back now at the thousands of people who have been saved and all of the Christians who now have liberty in knowing who they are in Christ and I can see a beautiful picture that I could not see then.

Praise God! I would not change anything!  This only increases my desire to walk by faith. My friend, faith, is simply taking God at His word. Do not fear, put your face in the wind, and do what God is leading you to do.
