Living in the Light - Monday, November 14th 2016
"Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God."
As we follow the Lord and as we live a life filled with the love of God, we imitate God.
- We follow Him to live.
- We follow God to His Word.
- We read in the Bible about Him.
We learn about God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in the Bible. When we are reading and studying the Bible, and we see something that doesn't seem to quite fit, look a little closer. Dig into that! The Bible itself encourages us to dig around, to study to show ourselves approved.
When you follow God, you have to follow Him to His Word, and begin to apply the Word, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you. When you say you are following God, you don't say when and where you follow God. We follow God in all areas! We follow God in our speech. It's important we learn to speak as God does in the Bible.
As we follow God, we follow Him to Jerusalem, which is important, because God calls it 'His City'. He is the God to Israel, and as we mimic Him, we want to even look at how He feels toward Israel. The Bible clearly tells us that God loves Israel and Jerusalem, so should we should follow Him in His ways.
God loves His people, which is us as well, if we have been born again, adopted as His children and 'grafted in' to His family through faith in Jesus Christ. So we also follow the Lord in His Word to the 7 Feasts of the Lord, we find listed in Leviticus 23. As we read about them, we learn about them, and they are not just Jewish. The 7 Feasts of the Lord are used by God to speak to us of Himself, His plan and His power.
God bless you!
Life Lesson: The 'Feasts of the Lord' remind us all of God's past goodness and provision, His present goodness and provision, and His future goodness and provision to us. We are His people and His children.
Thank You for your Word! Thank You that You reveal how to follow You, to do what You do, to be loving, kind, giving, generous, and thankful. Thank You for this season, preparing for the Feast of Tabernacles. Lord, we pray for our brothers and sisters affected by hurricane Matthew and the resulting flooding. God use us to help them.in physical, practical and financial ways. Lord, thank you that there is a blessing upon what we give, especially in this season. Show us and we will follow where people are hurting and introduce them to You. Please use us to be Your hands and feet as we follow You. In Jesus name, Amen.
