December 6
Every ending is a new beginning
Jason Nelson

Lately, I’ve been getting my devotions to my editor about a year in advance. I am amazed at how quickly time passes and how soon I can read them published. Older people say this a lot, but time really does fly. If you are young and thinking, “I have lots of time to do what I need to do,” I have two things to say to you: “Ha! Ha!” Get busy now preparing for everything coming down the road because the end of the road is approaching faster than you think.

Friend of Jesus, no matter what painful or wonderful endings you marked in the past year, please watch for the early signs of new beginnings. Seize them as opportunities for you and God to develop together. Think about what the Bible teaches about life, appreciate God’s love for you, gather up bits and pieces of experience, and put them in a file named “lessons learned.” Then keep it handy.

And pray the prayer of fresh starts: “Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:1,2,14,17).
