Remember who you are at work
Linda Buxa

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23,24).

Do you have multiple personalities? You know, one for work and one for church.

Whether you’re a welder, waitress, nurse, teacher, businessperson, or soldier, God thinks there is no difference between the worship you offer in church and the worship you offer at work. (Well, except that you happen to be getting paid at your job.)

In God’s view, you are his child all the time, not only when you are in his house. As his child, you are a living sacrifice and everything you do is a spiritual act of worship. You worship him when you distinguish yourself by your work ethic and commitment to the company. You worship when you serve your coworkers by praying for them. Worship is looking for people who aren’t in the family of believers yet and praying for ways to reach them with the gospel.

By the way, remembering who you are at work isn’t always easy. It means making tough choices, reporting theft, not blaming your mistakes on someone else, and working faithfully when everyone else is texting their friends. It means your coworkers might actually be offended by you because of your worship.

Remember: Great is your reward in heaven.
