It’s a girls’ club
Linda Buxa

A few years ago, I joined what the women referred to as their old ladies’ Bible study. They teased that I was too young to be in their group, but they welcomed me and taught me the way Titus 2:3,4 tells them to: “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live . . . then they can train the younger women.”

They taught me about being a faithful pray-er, asking me later how God was answering those prayers. They taught me about friendship. They taught me that my future includes still being concerned about and praying for my children no matter how old they get.

Finally, they taught me that lovely countenances do not come from an easy life—they lived through tough times; however, all of them are strong and confident because their hearts are at peace with God and revere the God who made them, redeemed them, and loves them. Because they know this love, they love each other like family.

As important as this message was in Bible times, it’s equally important today. The busier women get, the easier it is to feel lonely. The more we hear we should do it all, the less we feel we can hold it all together. God has put us on the same team, to spend time together, encourage each other, build each other up, teach each other, and learn from each other.

Men, I know this devotion is more for women, but I bet you need mentors in your life too.
