Pastor Matt Ewart
If God would just show up in a real, measurable way, a lot more people would take him seriously. I know I would benefit if I could look up into the sky and literally see God right there smiling at me. Ever wonder why he doesn’t do that?
My mind wanders to a movie with Chris Farley (a really big guy) and David Spade (a really small guy). In one scene Farley puts on one of Spade’s suit coats that is obviously ten sizes too small for him. After a few moments of taunting, Farley swings both of his arms toward his body and rips the suit in half.
You haven’t lived until you see a really big guy rip a suit coat in half.
As much as that suit coat was not designed to contain a big person, so much more this universe cannot possibly contain the God who made it.
When Solomon completed a temple for the Lord, he made this observation: “But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you” (1 Kings 8:27).
It would take a miracle for God to fit inside this universe. But miracles happen when they need to.
Jesus, the Son of God, who by nature would have destroyed this universe if he had simply stepped into it, took on actual flesh and blood so he could enter it.
God didn’t just show up in a measurable way. He showed up in the only way that we could see him and know him.
God designed you for more than you can imagine. And he gifted you uniquely to fulfill his incredible calling! Find out what your spiritual gifts are with the tools in Gifted for More by Dr. Bruce Becker.
