Do it again
Pastor Mark Jeske
If only the task of mothering were a string of “one and dones.” If only you needed to teach each life lesson to your kids just one time. If only every prayer for your children’s well-being were answered immediately. If only.
The reality is that mothering is a marathon, not a sprint. The reality is that mothers often carry burdens for their children for many, many years and that they will need to pray long and repeatedly for the things they know only God can do for their dear ones. How our families need mothers with spiritual stamina!
Hannah wanted to be a mother more than anything in the world. She is a model for moms in the persistence of her prayer: “In bitterness of soul, Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord. . . . ‘If you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son . . .’” (1 Samuel 1:10,11).
That’s just one of many reasons why we all owe such an enormous debt of gratitude to God for our mothers and to our mothers for pointing us to God. I will never know how often my mother prayed to God for me. But my life has so many blessings that I can be sure she prayed a lot. Thank you, Mom.
Challenge Grant makes your gift worth TWICE as much!
Generous donors have stepped forward with a $50,000 grant—and they’re challenging friends like you to meet it in full!
That means your gift will be worth TWICE as much to help share the timeless truths of God’s Word through television and digital outreach.
When you give, we’ll say thanks by sending you our new book, Grief Doesn’t Have the Last Word. It will encourage you about how much God loves you, how he brings great blessings out of losses, and how he’s making things turn out for your good.
