October 15
You’ve got a different view (Part 1)
Linda Buxa

As I’m writing this, I’m sitting in the window seat of an airplane. The woman in the middle seat has been looking out the window too. So far, I’ve randomly mentioned, “Oh, check out that wind farm” and “That water is such a unique color” and “Look, we’re finally reaching the mountains.”

Each time, she’s said, “I can’t see it.”

It’s hard to comprehend that someone sitting right next to me—after all, it’s an airplane and we’re practically on top of each other—could have such a different perspective.

This world is like that too. You’re surrounded by so many people who are so close to you, and yet they have different perspectives. They can’t see what you see—hope, peace, perseverance, gentleness, self-control, for example—because they don’t have the window seat to the gospel.

“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

This doesn’t have to be how the story ends, however.

When my seatmate sat a little taller, leaned in a bit, or waited just a little bit longer, then she could see what I saw. So don’t stop talking about what it looks like from your seat. Invite the people around you to check out the view. There’s still time.
