Experiencing God's Best: A Choice We Make
Proverbs 19:21

When I think about the issue of experiencing God's best in life, I am often reminded of my friend George. He once shared a story from his young adulthood that perfectly illustrates the need to include God in our daily plans and pursuits.

One day years ago, George was approached by two brothers with whom he had become good friends. The men invited George to join them in a business venture. The initial investment would have only been $300 - just $100 apiece would make the men equal partners. George listened to their proposal, but replied, "No, I don't think that'll work." And that was the end of it.

He did not really think about, and he certainly did not take time to pray about it. He simply replied out of his own wisdom and gut reaction.

American business history has shown the folly in George's decision. You see, those two men - the Hertz brothers - went on to establish the well-known car rental company that bears their name. For only $100, George could have owned a full third of that great successful enterprise. However, as he later admitted, George neglected to involve God in that decision. Had he prayed about it and sought God's will, the outcome could have been much different.

How often have you missed God's best blessing simply because you failed to include Him in your decision-making? The Lord desires the very best for each of His children. However, this is an impossible goal if we leave Him out of our choices. Bring your pursuits to Him today; His best blessings may be just around the corner.
