Praying in the Name of Jesus

John 14:7-27

Developing a vibrant prayer life will transform the way you live and see things. Through prayer, God can change your weakness into His strength, your ignorance into His wisdom, your emptiness into His fullness. Jesus made an awesome promise that whatever you ask in His name, He is committed to accomplishing. But what does this really mean?

Praying in Jesus’ name means recognizing that He has paved the way for you to have access to the Father. Anyone who believes in Christ’s death and resurrection as full payment for his or her sins and has received Him as personal Savior can, amazingly, approach the throne of Almighty God. (Hebrews 4:16)

Praying in Jesus’ name signifies exercising the authority He gives you as a born-again child of God and redeemed saint. Jesus is the heir of all things, and He has made us “fellow heirs” (Romans 8:14-17). Knowing your position should give you boldness and confidence as you humbly ask and expectantly look for God’s awesome answers. We are on a mission that requires us to be people of prayer, always connected with the power of the Holy Spirit, always crying out to the Father, and always depending on Him as our source.

Praying in Jesus’ name denotes agreement with His will. You are asking the Father to grant your need or desire as Jesus would, were He in your position. When you pray with this attitude, God is going to reveal His will because you want nothing less than what He wants. This is the kind of prayer that changes the world.
