The Last Adam - September 27

  • 2017 Sep 27

The Last Adam
Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited his people and redeemed them. He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago (Luke 1:68-70).
Dear friends:
God's wisdom and grace are absolutely amazing.
In designing man, He gave us three special, non-material attributes, all essential in bringing Him glory.
1.  He gave us an INTELLECT, with which we might KNOW Him.  "We know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God" (1 John 5:20, NLT).
2.  He gave us EMOTIONS, with which we might LOVE Him and others.  "'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40, NLT).
3.  He gave us a WILL, with which we might SERVE Him and others.  "Serve the Lord enthusiastically" (Romans 12:11NLT).  "All of you, serve each other in humility" (1 Peter 5:5, NLT).  The WILL is also important to praise and worship: "I will praise the LORD at all times" (Psalm 34:1, NLT)
These three human components worked fine until Adam fell, then they became corrupted.  Man began to worship his intellect, as seen in much of science and academia today.  He began to use his emotions for self-gratification.
And he began to use his will to make bad choices, and choose things that dishonor God.  Natural man is a slave to sin (Romans 7:23).
Throughout human history and throughout the world today, the intellect, the emotions and the will remain corrupt.
There is only one answer to this problem.  These facets of the human personality need to be "redeemed" to God's
original purpose.  To accomplish that, in His great love, God sent a Redeemer, His only begotten Son, our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jesus is referred to in the Bible as "the last Adam" (1 Corinthians 15:45).  By His obedience and sacrifice, the last Adam came to restore what the first Adam had lost through his disobedience.
"Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited his people and redeemed them. He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago" (Luke 1:68-70, NLT).

Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns,
Bill Bright
