Applying Your Talent
By Rick Boxx
December 5, 2011

We had a computer programming need that would cost at least $5,000. Through prayer, God generously revealed a different solution; a volunteer with expertise in this area!

Paid labor has advantages, but volunteers can bring added benefits. They bring their talents, their passion for the work, and their involvement. Instead of costing us money, this volunteer solved a problem and became a friend of our work.

Leviticus 19:10 teaches, “Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the alien.”

In our service-oriented culture our workplace skills have replaced the vineyard work in biblical times. If you have workplace skills, consider helping others, and blessing yourself, by applying them to the passions of your heart.

To better understand the importance of your work and how to carry it out in a way pleasing to God purchase Tom Nelson’s new book,
