The Compassionate Coach

According to the Kansas City Star, Kyle Weafer overcame his obsessions, limited speech, and social clumsiness due to autism, to become a football player for the Blue Valley Northwest High School. This led to the winning of a scholarship as a runner up for a Rudy Award, named after the famous Notre Dame football walk-on, Rudy Ruettiger.
Kyle's opportunity, and even his nomination, came from his football coach, Mike Zegunis. This coach accepted Kyle in spite of the additional work and distraction to the team. Zegunis modeled compassion when he didn't have to, and he and the team were blessed by Kyle's presence.
Proverbs 31:8 teaches, "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute."
Thank you, Coach Zegunis, for your compassionate example!
