Jumping to Conclusions
June 30, 2011
By: Rick Boxx

Early in my career I was asked to lead a team of auditors to do a bank audit. I was also asked to take along the boss’ 18 year old son.

Looking for something he could do, I asked him to go with the head teller and count cash. Minutes later the teller ran out of the vault crying, because this young man had accused her of stealing money. He didn’t realize he had overlooked another vault. Rather than seek understanding, he jumped to conclusions.

Proverbs 3:13-14 teaches, “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.”

Before jumping to conclusions it’s much better to ask questions and seek understanding.
