The Feast of Thanksgiving

The celebration in 1621 at Plymouth, Massachusetts is often considered the starting place for Thanksgiving Day in our country. What we do know is that Thanksgiving began as a day of thankfulness for God’s blessing on the harvest of crops.
Many point to the celebrations of Thanksgiving in England in the 1500’s as the precursor to our Thanksgiving here in America, but I believe we need to look much farther back than that.
In Exodus 23:16 God directed Moses and the Israelites, “Celebrate the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.”
God wants His people to remember who really provides the harvest. As you celebrate Thanksgiving this year, remember to thank God for what He’s provided through your work.
