Called to Work
By Rick Boxx
October 6, 2011

Many leave the marketplace to go into vocational ministry due to a philosophy that some pastors teach. They believe being a pastor or missionary is important to God, but being a business person isn’t.

One pastor is helping turn the tide on this flawed view of work. Tom Nelson, Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church in Leawood Kansas, has encouraged many that their workplace may be God’s call for them.

Ephesians 4:12 says, “It was he who gave some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

If we all become vocational ministers, who will work? If your pastor has a flawed view of work, buy them a copy of Tom Nelson’s upcoming book, “Work Matters.”
