And He said to him, “Feed my sheep.” (John 21:16)
As Jesus was preparing to leave the earth and ascend to the right hand of the Father, there were many things that He might have told Peter about his pastoral responsibilities. Yet He did not talk to Peter about leading the sheep, nor did He tell him to drive or drag the sheep. He did not say count the sheep, pen the sheep up, or fleece the sheep. When Jesus spoke to this pastor and to all pastors who would follow, it was regarding a single, significant, solemn responsibility: feed the sheep.
In Living in the In-Between Times, Pastor Ralph Douglas West brings the story of the Old Testament prophet Samuel to life, showing you how God speaks in your “in betweens” and what it looks like to live faithfully in these seasons of waiting and wondering.
