And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” (Genesis 32:26)
Essentially this Man was saying, “If you want to live, you need to let Me go.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” Likewise, there are blessings of God available to us every day. Our problem is that often we let them walk by without grabbing on and holding them. Letting the blessing slip by was what Jacob was trying to prevent. Whomever he was fighting with that night had the power to dislocate his hip, so he had the power to do more than that. Jacob wanted a blessing—and got it.
