Babes in Christ

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. - 1 Corinthians 3:1

Paul could not speak to those in Corinth as mature Christians. He described them as babes in Christ. What if you gave milk to a baby until they were ten years old? Think about how many Christians are like that! They have remained in an infant state, and they have not developed to the next level of their spiritual growth.

Many Christians are not where God wants them to be. They cannot even witness about their Christian faith. Yet, the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses study what they believe. When they come to your door, they can defend what they believe. But if you talk to Christians, it will sadden you. If you ask them to sit down and tell you what they believe about Jesus Christ or their faith, they do not know.

What if their neighbor came to ask them a question about the Bible? If they have not studied, they cannot answer. They would have to go ask their pastor. Yet, Christians need to read and study for themselves––bottom line. Why? If we do not study, pray and spend time with God, how are we going to be ready for God to use us? We will not be ready to witness to others when the opportunities come. God uses people who have the knowledge of Him. Besides, we are supposed to be ready to give anyone an answer to their questions about Christ:

But sanctify the Lord Godin your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15).

What kind of God do you serve? Do you know the attributes of God? That is theology! He is righteous, omnipotent, holy––eternal.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
~Psalm 90:2~
