Deuteronomy 28:3 (NIV®)
You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
In Deuteronomy 28 we read the blessings God will bestow on those who are obedient, and they are more than just rhetoric. When it says God will bless you in the city and in the country, it doesn’t mean God will bless the urbanites and the rural folk. It means God is watching over our lives; He knows where we are, and His blessings are associated with the way we choose to live. We see people who lead deceptive, manipulative lives. They imagine that God can be mocked, that they have outsmarted Him. But the God we worship, the omniscient and omnipotent God of the universe, knows everything we think and do. Every one of us will have an appointment with Him someday. All will be revealed, and justice is coming. Let’s honor the Lord with our lives so that we will be ready to meet Him with joyful anticipation.
THINK ABOUT IT
Do you live as if God is aware of your every thought and action?
Heavenly Father, take my life for the purposes of Your Kingdom’s work. So many people do not know of Your great love for them. Let courage arise within me to share Your love with the lost. Oh, Lord, go before me and prepare a path. May those who oppose Your purposes fail. Send a spirit of repentance to bring about a new awakening in our nation and around the world. In Jesus’ name, amen.
