Part of Our Assignment
John 17:25-26 (NIV®)
“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
One of the ways we show love for other people is by caring about what they care about. The same is true for our relationship with God: Because we love Him, we will care about what He cares about. And a great deal of what Jesus revealed to us about God is how much He cares for people. The people around us matter to Him, so they should matter to us too. When you share your Jesus-story with the people around you, it’s because you care enough to warn them about the devastation that ungodliness will bring and you want them to know God’s blessing and fulfillment. Let’s live with the awareness that we are people of God, living to carry out His purposes in a specific place and time, and the people He has placed around us are a part of our God-assignment.
THINK ABOUT IT
Do the people in your various spheres of influence know that you care about them because God cares about them? Consider ways you might share the love of Christ with the people in your life.
Heavenly Father, I offer myself to You without reservation. I yield my life to Your purposes. In Christ I have experienced forgiveness, freedom, and deliverance. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would enable me to be a person of compassion, forgiveness, and humility. Allow me to use my influence to glorify and uplift Your name. May You receive all honor and worship. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
