2 Corinthians 1:13
"Our letters have been straightforward, and there is nothing written between the lines and nothing you can't understand. I hope someday you will fully understand us,"
No matter what church you attend, there will always be a battle to believe the best. Believing the best in other Christians and even believing the best in church leaders can sometimes be a fight, especially if some are looking for the bad.
It is really heartbreaking to see Paul reaching out to explain himself as he tries to get the church in Corinth to trust him. One commentary mentions that they accused Paul of being insincere, deceptive, not keeping his word, unreliable, boastful, in it for the money and weak. Here stands Paul, a mighty man of God, and there were those in the church who wanted to see him gone. The reality was that most people loved Paul, but this was a small group within the church. Paul needed to help the people deal with this small group. If only this small group of people had spent time looking at God's work in Paul's life, they would have rejoiced in the goodness of God.
Friend, what group are you in? Do you seek to find the fault of anyone you come in contact with or do you seek the good in others? Sure we all fall at times but in the end, we should show the same grace God shows us.
Life Lesson: We should believe the best about other believers especially those who have proven themselves over time in ministry.
Thank You for the love and grace You have shown me. Even though I still sin, You see me as perfect because of my faith in Jesus. Help me to see other believers with the same eyes You have. Give me a loving heart to look for the good and not the bad. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Living to tell what He died to say,
