Because of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, you are free
I admire courageous souls who risk their lives to rescue others from oppression and enslavement.
Oskar Schindler did that during WWII and saved the lives of more than 1000 Jews during the Holocaust.
My friend Wally is doing it today rescuing and restoring the lives of young girls and boys from human trafficking.
Just recently, I watched people form a human chain in the flood waters of Houston to rescue a pregnant woman from her home.
All of these heroes have something in common. They valued the lives of those they rescued. They demonstrated a sanctity for human life. These men and women inspire me because they reflect the heart of God for humanity and his great rescue mission. They remind of how God rescued me.
Paul penned it this way: For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13, 14).
God so valued your life that he sent Jesus to rescue you from the powers of darkness. He sent Jesus to free you from sin and death and give you a place in his kingdom. And in him, you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Because of Jesus’s death burial and resurrection, you are free, rescued from the powers that oppressed and enslaved you.
God rescued you from the powers of sin and death and set you free to experience new life in Christ.
And that’s a rescue story worth sharing.
At a moment in time, God rescued you from sin and death through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus. He took you out of the kingdom of darkness and placed you into the kingdom of the Son he loves. You are safe and secure in him.
There’s no greater rescue than that.
