Whose Moral Standards?
By: Rick Boxx
September 19, 2014

The Public Religion Research Institute surveyed whether or not belief in God is essential for morality and good values. The answers varied tremendously depending upon age.

For those 65 years old or more, 65% agreed that a belief in God is essential for morality and good values. But only 39% of the 18-29 year olds believed that God was essential, leaving inconsistency in moral standards.

Morality is defined as “The quality of being in accord with standards of right or good conduct.” Whose standards are you abiding by if not God’s?

In Ecclesiastes 12:13, the wisest man on earth concluded, “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.”

Just as we have rules for sports, God has rules for life that provides safety and order.
