“Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.”
The Cry for help
To wait is to trust, and to trust is to know. How can you wait on someone who you do not trust, and how can you trust in someone you do not know? The Psalmists’ steadfastness did not come in his waiting, but it came from what He knew and believed about his God for he says; “He is our help and our shield.” He believed God was his help because he knew of His helping hand in times past. He believed God was his shield because he had been shielded by His almighty hands in times past. Times of help from the Lord are strength-given to be a well we can draw upon in the future. Find a soul that does not hesitate to cry; “my help cometh from the Lord,” and I will show you a soul that is at perfect peace waiting for his faithful God to act on his behalf. There is no struggle, there is no fear for God is his protection. There is no worry, and no strength is needed for God is the very strength running through his
There is a place that we can be at perfect rest, a place where night never comes, and a place where there are no storms, for we are at perfect peace. A place where the heart is never heavy for it is free from all care and burdens. A place where sorrow cannot visit, despair cannot overtake, and failure is never known. It is the place of waiting, waiting before Him in full abandonment of trust, knowing that He is your keeper, that the sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. He shall and will preserve
It is here, oh precious one, that your lips will, in absolute firmness, say even in the face of the fiercest of storms and darkest of nights, even when your heart is broken completely, when there is no way of escape, “I will lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord.” It is the cry that is heard coming only from those who have waited in complete trust. He is your helper. He made the heavens and the earth. He will never sleep nor will He ever slumber. He is the help upon your right hand, and He will not suffer your foot to be moved. You will never be allowed to slip, and you will never lose your way, even when there is no light to show you the way, when you stay your
There is no help to be found, if it cannot be found in Him, and peace will never come apart from Him. Waiting on the Lord is only a struggle when you do not trust Him, and trusting Him is only difficult when you do not know Him. To know Him is to trust Him, and to trust Him is to wait upon Him.
MY HELP COMETH FROM YOU OH LORD, I WILL NOT LOOK TO ANOTHER
