The Privilege of Worship - Today with Allen Jackson - October 20

  • 2018 Oct 20

Isaiah 25:1

O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name.

In every era there have been Christians who have made worship a point of controversy. I hear this generation’s discussions about worship: “Is your music traditional or contemporary?” “Is your podium acrylic or wood?” “Does your pastor wear a robe or jeans?” All of those may be legitimate questions, but it’s easy to confuse preference, style, and tradition for the substance of worship, which is acknowledging the authority of Almighty God. Our priority should be the One we worship, and the privilege we have of honoring the Lord in public. Worship will change you at the most fundamental level and bring God’s power to bear in your life. It is critical to our development and maturity as Christ-followers, so I’m not surprised that our adversary has tried to reduce it to a debate. Let me encourage you to take advantage of opportunities to worship the living God, even if the presentation is not a style you would choose. You will be transformed when you come into His presence!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of coming into Your presence in worship. Thank You for the many expressions of worship that honor You. Help me to see through the distractions and focus on You. I want to honor you with my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
